Punks Against Apartheid condemns the US government’s sanctioning of the a/i collective & NoBlogs, which hosts our website. As with previous bans of this nature, we will be seeking legal advice as to how this ruling could affect us as an international movement. We will of course inform our community about any major decisions we make about our web presence as we explore backup options. Since our website is still currently experiencing difficulties, we strongly advise folks to use e-mail to stay in touch at this time:

This act of repression is part of a pattern of concerted attacks on digital freedom & protest rights by Western governments as they desperately try to distract from their genocidal wars of aggression, accelerating capitalist climate catastrophe, and the continued plunder of the working class. for years The A/I collective has provided critical, free, and accessible infrastructure to a huge range of liberation struggles and DIY communities. Unlike exploitative corporate platforms that spy on their users and sell their data, A/I has always taken data privacy seriously and has a track record of defending against repression.

While the heart of struggle will always be primarily offline, we should not lose sight of the material consequences of this attack: the dismantling of over a decade of international anti-fascist digital communications infrastructure-building.

Whatever happens next, one thing is sure: we need many more collectives like A/I to flourish for the sake of preserving the increasingly narrow space to live & breathe on the internet. Digital freedom makes it possible for wider audiences to access radical DIY culture and for local movements to build transnational alliances to resist corporate capitalism & colonialism.

You can ban an organization, but you can’t ban a movement!

History shows that these kinds of scare tactics are poorly thought-out and won’t last or even work in the long term. But while we believe they will ultimately fail under the weight of their own contradictions, they are designed to cause maximal damage in the meantime. Whether they are shutting down presses or blogging platforms, incarcerating people for having zines, or expanding policing & surveillance systems into every aspect of our lives, capitalist génocidaires will continue to try to enclose our shared commons, be it on the street or online.

For our part, We will continue to do everything we can to raise our voices in protest for a free Palestine and in solidarity with liberation movements everywhere. FREE PALESTINE!!!
